Perry had expressed his desire to create such a foundation before his unfortunate passing on October 28. He wanted to prioritize helping others over his fame as a beloved cast member of the hit show “Friends.”
Perry believed that addiction could only be overcome through collective effort, stating, “Addiction is far too powerful for anyone to defeat alone. But together, one day at a time, we can beat it down.”
Following Perry’s sudden demise, his friends and loved ones were determined to turn his vision into a reality, which has now come to fruition.
“In honor of Matthew Perry’s unwavering dedication to assisting those struggling with addiction, we embark on a mission to preserve his legacy by establishing The Matthew Perry Foundation. Guided by his own words and experiences, and fueled by his passion for making a difference in as many lives as possible,” stated the foundation’s announcement.
