Bleecker Street’s terrifying survival horror thriller, formerly known as ‘The Origin’, has now been renamed ‘Out of Darkness’. It’s hitting theaters on February 9th!

Directed by the talented Andrew Cumming and written by the brilliant Ruth Greenberg, both making their feature debuts, ‘Out of Darkness’ takes us 45,000 years back in time. We follow a group of six desperate individuals who have crossed treacherous seas in search of a new home. Starving and filled with despair, they must find shelter to survive.

Their journey leads them through vast tundra towards distant mountains promising the necessary caves. But as night falls, their anticipation turns to fear when they realize they are not alone.

Relationships crumble, and the strength of one young woman reveals the horrifying lengths they will go to stay alive.

This gripping movie was filmed on location in the stunning Scottish Highlands, using a unique language called Tola, specially developed for the project by experts in linguistics and archaeology.

‘Out of Darkness’ has already captured audiences’ attention, earning five British Independent Film Awards, including a breakthrough performance by Safia Oakley-Green. Produced by Oliver Kassman, the film also stars Chuku Modu, Kit Young, and Iola Evans.
