The film, directed by Tara Miele, explores the world of self-help cults and follows the story of Kirsa, a woman fighting to preserve her marriage and sanity. Producers Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann describe the film as a Kubrickian psychological thriller that will leave audiences breathless.
FilmNation Entertainment will launch international sales for the film, and Verve Ventures and WME Independent will handle North American distribution. Berry had been attached to the project before the SAG-AFTRA strike.
“We are thrilled to be working with HalleHolly to bring Levin’s amazing screenplay to the screen. Tara’s vision for the film and Halle’s interpretation of the lead character will leave audiences breathless,” said producers Robert Kravis and Karl Herrmann.
The film follows a married couple who attend a self-help seminar and are asked to examine their lives and marriage. As Kirsa resists the cult-like group, her relationship and sanity are tested. The script was penned by Levin Menekse and appeared on the Black List.
Halle Berry is also starring in Netflix’s “The Union” and recently made her directorial debut with “Bruised,” which premiered at #1 on Netflix. Berry and Jeter’s production company, HalleHolly, aims to elevate complex, strong women and women of color in leading roles.
Tara Miele has previously worked on Apple projects and directed the film “Wander Darkly,” starring Diego Luna and Sienna Miller.
“The Process” promises to be a gripping and emotionally resonant thriller, with Halle Berry bringing her raw presence to the screen.
