The festival is set to take place at the prestigious Museum of the Moving Image and Kaufman Astoria Studios from April 16th to 28th, 2024.

The Queens World is passionate about cultivating and supporting filmmakers at every stage of their careers. Their festival has featured screenings from individuals in their 80s to talented fifth graders. They prioritize feeding the pipeline for dynamic young people from diverse backgrounds to pursue careers in the industry.
The voices of all cultures, with their rich storytelling traditions, deserve a place in the spotlight. Over the past 12 years, They’ve showcased over 1,800 films from 92 countries, including 281 films by local Queens filmmakers.
Since their inaugural year in 2011, we’ve been dedicated to building connections between local and international filmmakers of all ages. In addition to their annual multi-day film festival, they’ve offered various programs, including mentoring, professional development workshops like Passion in Action, industry panels, school-based immersion programs, the He Said/She Said blog, the Listening Tour video series, and year-round screenings for festival alums.
One of their year-round events is the Passion in Action professional development workshop, aimed at connecting young creatives in the Queens, New York area with professionals in their desired fields.
Their last in-person event was in April, and they’re excited to announce that their next big workshop event is planned for this summer. Their goal is to enhance the skills of young individuals, helping them represent themselves professionally, whether they aspire to be biochemists or filmmakers. Film is their medium of choice, providing their participants with the greatest contacts and opportunities.
To plan Passion in Action, they’ve partnered with Gaia Zine, a local high school junior founded by Isabel Tiburcio. Together, they’re creating an inspiring and empowering environment for emerging creatives.
