SAG-AFTRA’s Duncan Crabtree-Ireland Joins New York Comic Con to Discuss AI in Entertainment

Duncan Crabtree-Ireland, the National Executive Director and Chief Negotiator of SAG-AFTRA, will attend New York Comic Con on Oct. 14 to participate in the panel “AI in Entertainment: The Performer’s Perspective.”

This appearance follows Crabtree-Ireland’s recent involvement at San Diego Comic-Con, where he led a panel for voiceover actors to discuss their rights amidst the ongoing actor’s strike. He also stopped at the Toronto International Film Festival to support Canada’s commercial actors in their contract lockout.

While negotiations for a new contract continue, Crabtree-Ireland’s upcoming appearance at NYCC has generated excitement. Due to the strike, the event will have limited participation from big stars, making this panel a must-see for attendees.

The New York Comic Con panel will explore how existing legal structures can be utilized. New standards can be developed to foster collaboration between performers and producers while protecting individual rights to performance and publicity. Crabtree-Ireland will shed light on SAG-AFTRA’s approach, the relevant laws, and the role of AI in the ongoing strike.

Joining Crabtree Ireland on the AI panel at NYCC are esteemed performers Cissy Jones, Courtenay Taylor, Tim Friedlander, and Andi Norris, with Lindsay Rousseau moderating the discussion.

Take advantage of this insightful and thought-provoking panel as industry professionals delve into the intersection of AI and entertainment.
