‘Masters of the Air’ will kick off with two episodes on January 26, followed by a new episode every Friday until March 15. As Netflix brings renewed popularity to its predecessors, the Emmy-winning ‘Band of Brothers and ‘The Pacific,’ Apple TV+ brings you a brand-new tale based on Donald L. Miller’s book, written by John Orloff, that brings to life the true story of an American bomber group in the Second World War.
Executive producer Goetzman shares, “‘Masters of the Air’ pays tribute to the courageous men of the 8th Air Force, whose bravery and unity helped defeat Nazi Germany in World War II.
Tom and Steven have always envisioned cinematically portraying this ‘singular event in the history of warfare,’ as described by author Don Miller. We are thrilled that Apple TV+ has allowed us to bring together many talented individuals on-screen and behind the scenes to tell this important story.”
According to the official logline, ‘Masters of the Air’ follows the “Bloody Hundredth,” the men of the 100th Bomb Group, as they embark on treacherous bombing missions above Nazi Germany. They face extreme conditions, lack of oxygen, and the terrifying reality of combat at 25,000 feet in the air.
This series dives into the psychological and emotional toll exacted on these young men as they contributed to dismantling Hitler’s Third Reich. Some were captured, wounded, or killed, while others were fortunate enough to make it home. Each individual paid a price.
The cast boasts talented actors such as Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa.
‘Masters of the Air’ is produced by Apple Studios, executive produced by Spielberg, Hanks, and Goetzman, with co-executive producers Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Steven Shareshian, and Graham Yost. Cary Joji Fukunaga directs four of the nine episodes.
