The Char’Actors presents Michigan’s Great ‘Agon’ the Ultimate Monologue Slam, Welcomes Janet Torreano Pound

Janet started her career as an actress and member of SAG/AFTRA, acting in commercials and training films. She then worked as a talent agent and, for ten years, as a casting director with Pound & Mooney Casting. She worked with her partner on the Michigan principal casting for over thirty movies, commercials, and music videos. Gran Torino, Red Dawn, and Batman vs. Superman. She worked for George Clooney, Drew Barrymore, Ryan Gosling, Clint Eastwood, and Spike Lee. As a writer, her theatre pieces have been performed in Detroit, Chicago, Palm Springs, and New York, winning honors and inclusion in Best of Theatre books.

Her short film Home Again which she wrote, directed, and co-produced, won the Trinity in- International Screen Festival’s Best Artist Award. In contrast, her comedy quick Katrine’s Last Words was selected for local festivals in Australia and New Zealand international festivals.

JANET’S most recent endeavors have been two children’s books, Grammy’s Jammies and Roth and Pearl at Mirror Lake, and her book about the business with stories and monologues, Advice from a Casting Director.
