In time for the Holiday season, Redford Theater presents ‘Love Actually’ Friday, December 2, 2022

Time to begin thinking about the Christmas season. Halloween is in the rearview mirror, and so are Election Day and Thanksgiving. With that in mind, the Redford Theatre is ready to start with Love Actually on Friday, December 2, at 8 p.m.

“Love Actually” is a romantic comedy about eight London couples working their way through romantic adventures in a series of loosely interrelated tales as Christmas approaches. It features an ensemble cast that (logically) is composed of predominantly British actors like Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Colin Firth, and Emma Thompson.

You’ll also find Alan Rickman (Harry), who became known to many of us because of his role as Severus Snape in the Harry Potter series of films. You can also watch Billy Bob Thornton (the U.S. President) and a cameo role by Director Richard Curtis as a trombone player.

As you might expect from the trailer, “Love Actually” is R rated for sexuality. Nudity and language.
Here’s a chart to help you understand the relationships between the characters:

Or, never mind, sit back and enjoy.

Here are a few more things you might be interested to know about the film:
* The word “actually” is spoken 22 times by various characters during the movie.
* Supermodel Claudia Schiffer reportedly was paid 200,000 pounds for her one-minute cameo as “Carol.” (That’s about 300,000 dollars.)
* The airport footage at the beginning and end of the film is actual. A camera crew at Heathrow filmed whatever they saw that would fit and asked the people involved for permission to use the footage.

Love Actually is just the thing to get you into the Christmas spirit. The Redford Theatre, dressed in all its holiday finery, can only add to that spirit. Please don’t be late for the 7:30 p.m. Organ Overture provided by our amazing Barton Theatre Pipe Organ.
