Uncensored Hollywood films showcased at Detroit’s Redford Theatre
TCM host Alicia Malone presents two surprisingly adult Pre-code Hollywood classics from 1932.
The first, directed by Ernst Lubitsch, stars Kay Francis as a perfume company magnate romanced by con man Herbert Marshall (with help from girlfriend Miriam Hopkins).
The second, from Dorothy Arzner, is about the fated relationship between Sylvia Sidney and an uber irresponsible Frederic March.
Made before Hollywood censorship standards were in force, they will change the way you view early sound cinema.
