An independent horror film made in West Michigan foretold the pandemic and wrapped before the lockdown

Fleeing from civilization as a horrific plague ravages mankind,  Meadow (played by Jovonnah Nicholson, known for Green Demon ) gets a lift from a stranger. When she sees that the driver is gruesomely infected, Meadow escapes and takes refuge in a cabin that’s abandoned…or is it?

The apocalypse started days earlier when an evil spore, long-dormant beneath an ancient ice field, was awakened by global warming. Now, as ten strangers try to evade the madness, some must succumb to the hideously mutating fungus and claim the survivors as their bitter prey.

“The Spore” filmed in the woods around Lowell, Michigan, is set for nationwide release on digital, video on demand, and DVD on Nov. 2, 2021.  Two days after Halloween, this date is known, as the Day of the Dead or Dia De Los Muertos.

“The Spore” written and directed by D.M. Cunningham stars Jeannie Jefferies, Brian Hillard, Peter Tell, Haley Heslip.

Although many assume the movie was made in response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, “The Spore” wrapped production a week before the shutdown in March 2020.
