By: Canada native and Michigan-based actress Erika Hoveland has built a solid and continuing career in film, TV and stage.
Both Mr. Knox and Ms. Hoveland have experience in films produced by Lansing (Mich.)-based production company Collective Development Incorporated. And both rejoin CDI’s ensemble cast for the upcoming WWII home front drama, ‘Silent Night In Algona’ (Inspired by Actual Events).
Mr. Knox, who will play Kossuth County (Iowa) deputy sheriff Norm Russell, will be making his seventh turn with CDI. His first CDI film was 2004’s, ‘An Ordinary Killer,’ playing Michigan State Police Det. Ben Bannister in the true crime drama, ‘An Ordinary Killer.’ He will be reunited with director Anthony Hornus and writer-producer DJ Perry for ‘Silent Night In Algona.’
Known for Peter White in the TV drama ‘St. Elsewhere’ (along side future stars Denzel Washington, Mark Harmon, Helen Hunt and others), Mr. Knox is best-known for the 1987-92 TV drama, ‘Tour of Duty.’ He played Sgt. Zeke Anderson in the popular Vietnam War drama.
Mr. Knox, who guest starred on dozens of TV shows and films, has other turns with CDI, ranging from Dean Teaster’s Ghost Town’ and ‘Chasing the Star,’ to the upcoming release of the dramedy, ‘Best Years Gone.’
Erika, who plays ‘Helen,’ the owner of the local diner, has more than 35 film and TV credits.
The Canadian born and raised actress, will make her second turn with CDI. She earned the female lead (as ‘Sylvia’) in the upcoming dramedy, ‘Best Years Gone.’
An award-winning thespian, Erika is as comfortable doing Shakespeare or ‘The Rocky Horror Picture Show’ on stage, as she is portraying the protagonist or antagonist on camera in dramas, comedies and action films.
A graduate of the University of Alberta (B.A. in Theater), Erika continued her training in Vancouver, British Columbia. Following six years of professional theater in Edmonton, Alberta, Erika and her husband, Dale, moved to metro Detroit.
A U.S. Citizen, Erika always brings solid character development and nuance to her roles.
A few of her credits include ‘Sparkle,’ ‘Injustice for All,’ and Michigan-made films, ‘Ash and Bone,’ and ‘The Intrusion.’
In addition to acting, Erika also works as an associate producer/portfolio administrator within her husband’s film finance production company, Lynmar films.
