Yesterday, June 5, 2021, was a great day. As we enter summer, car enthusiasts throughout Michigan are bringing out and proudly displaying their cars. Whether a single car of which they are proud or a stable of high-horse-powered beauties which they like to show off and boast about, they gather with other motoring enthusiasts to show their keepers and swap stories regarding everything car-related.
Yesterday was a big day for downtown Grass Lake, Michigan. Over 100 proud owners gathered to exhibit everything from the oldest of meticulously kept automobiles to some of the newest fast and furious, turbo-charged drifters. Add to this the numbers of people who came to show their appreciation, and their children, and you have a small-town Main Street teaming with people who shared one interest. Cars. Cars CARS!
Antiques. Restorations. Restomods. Hot Rods. Rat Rods, Funny Cars. Muscle cars. Sports Cars. Classics. They were all there. Something for anyone. And each was so clean and shiny they appeared as though they had just rolled off of the showroom floor.
For many in attendance, this was the first public event they, both adults and children accompanying their parents, have attended in over a year since the pandemic lockdown went into effect. For many, it was certainly the first that they have been in public without being required to wear a mask. A return to humanity, you could see the beaming smiling and appreciative faces everywhere you looked. With clear skies and temps in the mid-to-high eighties, you could not have asked for a more pleasant day for a car show.
