The ICFF nominates Shawntay Dalon for Best Screenplay, and Benn Perry as Best Actor for ‘Forbidden’

The International Christian Film Festival has nominated Shawntay Dalon in the Best Screenplay category, and Benn Perry as Best Actor for his portrayal of Father Francis in the feature film “Forbidden.”

Since premiering November 18, 2018, “Forbidden” has received a total of five nominations, including Most Inspirational Film; based on the real-life story of Pastor Frank Julian whose book was the inspiration behind the script!

Based on a true story, “Forbidden,” is a story about  Father Francis and Sister Margaret who have been good friends for years, both with passions to serve the Lord. But when the parish begins to suspect that they have more than “friendship feelings” for one another, their faith, devotion, and love become a media spotlight.

Written and directed by Shawntay Dalon,  “Forbidden” stars Benn Perry as Father Francis, Vicki Thorn as Sister Margaret,  Shawntay Dalon as Sefina Tepour,  John L. Criswell as Kali, Judy Stepanian as Sister Bridgett,  and a strong cast of others.

Shawntay Dalon is known as the writer of I Am My Sister’s Keeper (2015), and as an actress for her roles in Good Trouble (2019-2020), I Think You Should Leave (2019),  Detroiters (2017-2018). She was born and raised on Detroit’s east side with her six sisters and two brothers  Shawntay and her twin sister attended the Detroit High School for the Fine & Performing Arts. Shawntay majored in Drama. Her twin Janay, majoring in Music. This was the same high school that her childhood inspiration “Aaliyah ” attended. Shawntay graduated attended Wayne State University with a major in Speech Communications and Theater.  She is an writer/actress/ and producer.

As an expert credit counseler, and eight times published author, Benn Perry,  first tried his hand as a screenwriter with his screenplay “Past Due.” As an actor, he is known for his roles in Indictment: Dead Witnesses Can’t Talk (2016), Out of Balance (2007), The Prince of Motor City (TV Movie) (2008), Off the Chain (2005).

The ICFF is one of the largest Christian Film Festival in the world and it is the only film festival with a screening in France during the Cannes Film Festival.  Founded on September 15, 2011, the ICFF is the premiere choice for faith-based, family-friendly films and documentaries.
