David Fairman’s ‘Debt’ premieres September 12 and 14

Dave Fairman’s (Nosey (2017), Tracker (2017),  Smoke Break (2018)) feature film, “Debt” will premiere at two Michigan locations in September – on Sept. 12 at Studio C in Okemos and in Royal Oak at Emagine Theaters on Sept. 14.  Already sold out,  pre-sale for digital purchase of the movie will begin soon!

An action/crime thriller written and directed by David Fairman, “Debt” stars Ashley Killips (known for her roles as Daughter in “Tracker” (2017). as Erica in “Smoke Break” (2018) and as Emma in “Love Immortal” (2019))  as “Gina,” a tough, smart-talking debt collector for a shady criminal organization. She lives dangerously in her work, while attempting to keep up the facade of a normal life. Her latest job, however, threatens to destroy the life and relationships she’s built for herself when she’s confronted by her past.

“Debt” also includes A.J. Orille (known for his appearance in Nosey (2017) and Smoke Break (2018), and Phil Rumley, and others.

Production began in December 2017 on Fairman’s debut thrill ride and continued through September 2018, filming about one weekend a month, all in Michigan (primarily in the Lansing area, some in the Detroit area). In total, filming was 22 days.  Many of the locations were local businesses that allowed filming during off work hours – including American Fifth Spirits (Lansing), The Exchange (Lansing), Hawk Hollow Golf Course (Bath Twp), Aladdin’s Expres (Lansing), and several others. Almost all of the film cast and crew – about 115 total – were volunteers, including family, friends from back as far as high school, and coworkers.

The film is scheduled to premiere in September (at Studio C! in Okemos on 9/12 and Emagine Royal Oak on 9/14) and both screenings have already sold out Subsequently, it will be released via Amazon video direct and other VOD platforms


Dave Fairman began making short films in 2016.  His first short (“Fix My Spouse”(2017)) was a top 10 selection in the 2016 Capital City Film Festival Fortnight contest  The following year, his short film “Tracker” won 2nd Place and Audience Choice at the 2017 CCFF Fortnight contest   Created a handful of other shorts that have been released on The Light in the Attic website , Amazon, and YouTube


The attached file has a spreadsheet that contains: Names and roles of the key cast and crew, including their current residences, hometowns, current ages, day jobs, emails and phone numbers (if they were comfortable being contacted by media)  A list of key locations where filming took place in Lansing and elsewhere in Michigan
