Jeff Swerdan, cast/crew grab six big awards at the 48 Hour Film Horror Project: Detroit

Tuesday, November 27, 2018 was a big night for Jeff Swerdaen and VernaJune Entertainment, as well.  Their short film “The Page Turner” earned them six awards at the 48 Hour Film Project: Detroit Horror.

In “The Page Turner” two colleagues discover a mysterious chest, and find themselves transported to a world somewhere between fiction and nonfiction.

Jeff Swerdan was noted as having said regarding the awards his team took, “Feeling so excited and grateful! I can’t believe we won a total of 6 Awards for our short film “The Page Turner” at 48 Hour Film Project: Detroit Horror.

We won:

Best Movie Poster

Best Makeup (special thanks to Gals and Ghouls Dayna Green and Meghan Martin with the help of Kristin Hillaker)

Beat Costumes (thanks to Jodee Porter, Kimberlina Sängër and Bre Noonan)

Best Special Effects (thanks to Dark Hoffman and Tom McNaughton who helped me put them together)

Ron Mclaurine was named the Best Scream King (or Queen)

And

We won the Award for Best Use of the Prop

About Jeff Swerdan

Born in Traverse City, Michigan, Jeff Swerdan,  while attending High School took acting classes at the University of Michigan Flint and studied acting and performing arts classes at Michigan Tech University during the summer months.

Upon completing high school, Jeff moved to Orlando, Florida, where he started working at Walt Disney World and Universal Studios. Here Jeff began to really focus on writing, acting and entertaining. In 2006 Jeff shot his first short film and was hooked on filmmaking.

In 2007 Jeff returned to Michigan and began focusing on making more movies. From 2008 until 2011 Jeff shot nearly a dozen short films, two web-series, and numerous commercials and music videos.

In 2012 Jeff produced and shot his first feature film “Second Thoughts;”  In 2014 Jeff began filming his second feature film: “Becoming the Reaper.” And he also wrote and directed a feature film called “The Forever Choice” which filmed over last winter and almost finished with the editing,  will be premiering in January, as well.
