The Urban Institute of Contemporary Arts presents director Brett Miller and his “Some Are Born” September 18, 2018, at the UICA, 2 Fulton St W, Grand Rapids, Michigan as part of the Local Directors Series.
The Local Director Series is a premier forum for directors to share their work publicly and the event acts as a vital resource for the advancement of the West Michigan film community by increasing public awareness about independent filmmaking and the Grand Rapids film industry.
“Some are Born” is a thriller that was directed by Brett Miller. The story of Brian, a college student, who, wishing to be accepted, befriends two mysterious filmmakers. He finds comfort in his newfound acceptance, but the sinister pair’s true desires come to light when they ask Brian to sell drugs to fund their next project. Seduced in more ways than one by the couple, Brian becomes enthralled by their clandestine operation.
Bret Miller is a commercial and fiction filmmaker. He has directed two feature films: “Some Are Born,” and “Chasing The Star.” His short film, “Red Skies,” premiered at the Umbertidead Film Festival in Italy, and has screened in Paris, Los Angeles, and Transylvania. It won the award of Best Short Film at ArtPrize, the most attended art competition in the world and was acquired by Eli Roth’s CryptTV
