Based on the Dark Horse comic series “The Mask,” a poster and teaser trailer for “Revenge of the Mask,” a fan film, have been released.
Although the mask in the Dark Horse comic series bestowed on its wearer reality-bending powers and an altered appearance, affecting the personality of the wearer by removing all social and moral inhibitions, causing the wearer to become insane, the 1994 movie and subsequent sequel were toned down to make it only as dangerous as its wearer, and the main character Stanley Ipkiss was depicted as a mischievous yet benevolent superhero.
Stanley Ipkiss, played by Jim Carrey, was an unfortunate bank clerk who finds a magical mask that transforms him into a green-faced superhero with big teeth. The “Mask” starring Jim Carrey, Peter Greene, Amy Yasbeck, Peter Riegert, Richard Jeni, Ben Stein, Joely Fisher, and Cameron Diaz in her film debut. Released on July 29, 1994, by New Line Cinema, grossing over $351.6 million over a $23 million budget, the “Mask” was a critical and commercial success.
This fan film follows a new character, Alan, who finds there is a thin line between hero and monster. This bloody adaptation blends the story elements created by Mike Richardson with the stylistic overtones from the original film version of “The Mask“.
