#MICHIGANCONNECTION: Albert Hughes sans brother spins man and dog prehistoric yarn

AlphaDirector Albert Huges, one half of the Huges Brothers fame is bringing an epic man and dog story to the big screen without help from his brother, Allen.   Alpha is the prehistoric tale of a bond that develops between man and dog who are forced to rely on each other in some of the most perilous of situations.

Cro-Magnon, Keda (Kodi Smit-McPhee)  is left for dead when he accompanies his chieftain father chieftain  (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) on his first epic hunt.   Along Keda’s long, treacherous journey home alone he is attacked by — and then forms an alliance with — a wolf he names Alpha.   Together, they must overcome the elements, and other predators, to survive.

A gripping good adventure yarn with memorable visuals and an original premise and feel, Alpha presents a plausible take on the origins of the first human-canine bond.

Alpha,  a Columbia Pictures, Sony Pictures Releasing appears in theaters starting August 17, 2018.  Directed by Albert Hughes,  Alpha stars Kodi Smit-McPhee, Natassia Malthe, Leonor Varela
