After a 19 year detour comedian Keegan Michael-Key, one half of the Comedy Central duo Key & Peele, has a chance to fulfill a long standing ambition. He will play a dramatic role in a classic. This summer he takes on a Shakespearean role, something he had prepared himself for with a “laser focus” before completing grad school.
Key will appear in the role of Horatio in Sam Gold’s anticipated vision for Hamlet at the Anspacher Theater at the Public Theater, NYC. Starring Oscar Isaac in the title role, Key serves as the devoutly loyal confidant Horatio to Shakespeare’s troubled prince Hamlet.
After Key & Peele wrapped in 2015, Key began to put feelers out for theatrical roles in New York and Los Angeles. Before long was introduced to Gold—who happened to be a fan of Key & Peele. The two clicked and Gold offered him Hamlet via a personal email.
This production is all sold out. But for more information. http://bit.ly/2tdw1Lc
