It was on this day, July 5, 1960 actor Douglas Sills was born in Detroit, Michigan.  He grew up in the suburb of Franklin.  He   attended Cranbrook School, from which he graduated in 1978, and the University of Michigan where he majored in music.

Largely a stage actor,   Sills is most famous on Broadway for creating the role of Percy in Frank Wildhorn’s “The Scarlet Pimpernel” which he played on Broadway and in the National Tour.  He was nominated for a Tony (1997) for Best Lead Actor in a Musical.  He was awarded the 2000 Los Angeles Stage Alliance Ovation Award for Lead Actor in a Musical for the same play at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, California.

He has appeared in numerous television shows including Chicago Justice (2017), The Closer (2005-2006), Party of Five (1996), and Coach (1994).

In film Sills is   known for Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo (2005), The Swan Princess: Escape from Castle Mountain (1997) and Funny About Love (1990).

Douglas Sills is 57 today.
