It was on this day, September 17, 1962, American actor, film director, producer, and screenwriter Paul Samuel Feig was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan.   The son of Elaine Elizabeth (née Artingstall), a telephone operator, and his father, Sanford William Feig, owned Ark Surplus on Gratiot Avenue, Mt.Clemens,  Feig graduated Chippewa Valley High School Class of 1980.and attended Wayne State University, Detroit for a year before moving to Los Angeles, California.

In Los Angeles,Feig transferred to the University of Southern California,  where he worked as a tour guide at Universal Studios Hollywood, embarked on a stand-up comedy act, and landed minor roles on various television shows.

Perhaps best known for directing the 2011 film Bridesmaids, featuring Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. Feig also directed the comedy films The Heat (2013) starring McCarthy and Sandra Bullock, and Spy (2015) which stars McCarthy, Jason Statham, and Jude Law.   Feig most recently released the 2016 reboot of Ghostbusters, an American supernatural comedy film directed by Paul Feig, written by Feig and Katie Dippold. It stars Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones and Chris Hemsworth. The announcement of the female-lead cast in 2015 drew a polarized response from the public.
