“Transformers: The Last Knight” wrapped production late last week in Michigan. The latest movie in the hit franchise arrived for filming in June and spent the past two months filming in and around Detroit and rural Ingham County near Lansing.
“Goodbye #Michigan, miss you already!” tweeted “Transformers” star Mark Wahlberg on Friday. The actor worked hard during his stay and hit the links in his off time at Plum Hollow Country Club in Southfield.
Wahlberg also left behind a lasting memento of his latest trip to Detroit (he was a temporary resident here in 2013 during shooting for “Transformers: Age of Extinction”). His Wahlburgers chain opened a restaurant in Greektown.
The production kept a lower profile during its stay than the previous “Transformers” film did three years ago, when a portion of downtown Detroit was transformed into Hong Kong for “Transformers: Age of Extinction.” This time, the movie filmed quietly at Capitol Park, where the set was often mistaken for renovation construction, and the isolation of the old Packard Plant.
On Tuesday, Bay confirmed on Twitter that work had started in Scotland and posted an Instagram photo from the new, rugged location.
“Transformers: The Last Knight” is the fourth film in the series to shoot in metro Detroit.
