“Superior” combining superior scenery and story-line too, rolls into town

The comedy-drama “Superior,” about two buddies bicycling the border of the Great Lake bearing that name, is rolling into metro Detroit again.

Director Edd Benda’s indie charmer, which had two sold-out screenings at the 2016 Freep Film Festival, will be shown at 7 p.m. Monday at the Maple Theater in Bloomfield Township.

The emotionally tender, visually stylish movie is a gorgeous trip through the Keweenaw Peninsula, the top tip of the Upper Peninsula. Derek (Paul Stanko) is the goofy one with military service in Vietnam on the horizon. Charlie (Thatcher Robinson) is the earnest one heading off to study at Michigan Technological University in Houghton.
